Chris O'Brien

Provisional Psychologist

Chris is a Provisional Psychologist working at the Brendale clinic. Chris spent his earlier years working at a special school, as a disability support worker and swim teacher, where he developed his passion for working with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other developmental disorders. Since graduating with Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), he has worked extensively with children in out-of-home care, high-risk behaviours and supporting at-risk families in the community. Throughout this time, Chris developed a passion for working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), and attachment disorders. Chris works primarily using cognitive-behaviour therapy, play therapy, and somatic therapy.

Chris supports families with compassion and understanding of their personal situation, taking all factors into account and adapting therapy to meet the client's needs. He values rapport, real-life practicality, collaboration and transparency within the client-practitioner partnership to support the best outcomes for children and their families.
