Paediatric
Psychology
Does your little one need help from a psychologist? Reach out to our caring and passionate team of paediatric psychologists today. Let’s see how we can help you, your family and your little one.
Initial Appointment
At Pepper Kids Therapy the first session with a psychologist is an information gathering session, typically conducted with only the parent/caregiver in attendance. This session last for 60 mins in clinic and helps to provide a clear picture of what areas your child needs further assistance with. We also offer a more formal initial assessment if required.
Assessments
We offer clinical and standardised assessments across a number of areas including:
Beck Youth Inventories: anxiety, depression, anger, self concept and disruptive behaviour
S&D Questionnaire (SDQ): emotional problems, conduct problems, hyperactivity, peer problems and prosocial skills
Conners 3: ADHD, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder
Adaptive behaviour assessment system 3 (ABAS): adaptive skills across the lifespan
DASS: depression anxiety and stress scale
WPPSI 3: Weschler preschool and primary scale of intelligence
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS): used as evidence towards an ASD diagnosis
WISC-V: Weschler intelligence scale for children
After Your Assessment
After an assessment, a comprehensive report including standardised scores, a written narrative of the assessment findings and their impact on your child’s development will be compiled.
The report will include recommendations that can be put into place at your child’s natural settings (home, childcare, school) which will promote your child’s strengths and support them to develop their areas of need. Recommendations for required therapeutic intervention will also be included. The therapist will discuss the findings of the report with you and therapy goals will then be agreed.
Ongoing Therapy Appointments
Following on from your initial appointment and/or an assessment, weekly or fortnightly therapy sessions of 40 mins in duration will be recommended. Resources will be given to parents, teachers, and other caregivers to engage them in the therapy process, and where a multi-discipline team is working with your child, the therapists will engage in regular collaboration to provide the best possible outcomes for your child.
NDIS Reports
We can provide comprehensive functional capacity assessments and detailed reports to identify and document funding needs for NDIS plans. Our therapists are also well trained in the reports required when coming to the end of your NDIS plan and seeking a renewal or an increase in funding.
Telehealth Service (Optional)
At Pepper Kids Therapy we also offer telehealth services. These can be a fantastic way to complement your in-clinic therapy where distance prevents regular visits. Or, if something happens and you are unable to make it to the clinic, instead of cancelling a session you may make use of a telehealth appointment where possible. Your psychologist can observe and interact with your child all from the convenience of your home. This also enables the therapist to tailor treatment for at-home success.
