About Shariya

Shariya is a Senior Speech Pathologist at Eight Mile Plains who supports children and families across a range of communication profiles and developmental support needs including speech, language, literacy, emotional regulation, social communication, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Shariya has strong interests in neurodiversity-affirming and functional communication approaches, and is passionate about supporting children of all ages to feel understood and empowered in their everyday environments. She works collaboratively with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to provide meaningful, family-centred support that is tailored to each child’s unique strengths, interests, and capacity.

Alongside clinical work, Shariya enjoys contributing to ethical and reflective practice, and supporting the development of other clinicians through mentoring and coaching.

Approach to Therapy

Shariya’s approach to therapy is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and trauma-informed. She values building safe, collaborative relationships with children and families, and focuses on supporting functional and empowered communication, connection, autonomy, and participation in everyday life.

Outside the Clinic

Outside of work, Shariya loves attending concerts and gigs with her friends, watching the footy (Go Broncos!), and spending time with her dog.
